Lisa is known to a worldwide fan cult for a series of savagely honest and musically intrepid solo albums that commenced in the early '90s for the 4AD label, including the cynical debut Happiness in 1994 and the sexual-warfare-running-amok Geek the Girl, also from '94 (which was included in Spin's top 100 records of the 1990s). shop

Chocolate and Ice LP
-
My Morning Jacket, the Louisville, KY outfit that continue to defy categorization, return with a new EP entitled "Chocolate and Ice." Equal parts Southern Blues, Americana and dreamy psychaedelica, My Morning Jacket's appeal stems from, among other things, the hauntingly raw vocals of lead singer and guitarist, Jim James. shop

Badman: Artists
The Posies
About:
Singers, songwriters, and guitarists Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer met at a Bellingham music store as teenagers in the mid-’80s. They began the Posies in 1988 with bassist Rick Roberts and drummer Mike Musburger, both of whom left by the mid-’90s, playing sweet-toned pop-rock that, along with similar fare from Teenage Fanclub and Matthew Sweet, became early ’90s college- radio favorites and recording five albums before splitting in 1998. They got back together two years later and are simply one of the most creative, resourceful, and influential bands to emerge from the American DIY underground in the last two decades.
“Even the vaguest scan of the Stringfellow songbook will reveal Ken’s intimate acquaintance with the bitter/sweet dichotomy, dark clouds and silver linings: the keenest emotional wounds dressed with sugary sky-scraping tunes.” – Loose Lips Sink Ships
